If your baby dies from age 1 to 3, you lose some food pips, that’s how you die from “grief”. That’s how it was explained to me anyway. If someone else can shed some light on the topic, it will be appreciated!

If your kids die too young, you lose some food bar. The amount of food bar that you lost increase the more kid get die. Eventually you starved to die, that’s why it said killed by grief. to avoid this, makes sure your kid are alive until they reach adulthood or makes sure you never low on food bar by eating a lot or build Yum Bonus.
This system is to avoid solo player who usually abandon their kids, althought it becomes back fired when we have suicidal kid.
