In the latest update, the graves changed. One goal was to reduce the amount of skeletons lying around, but we also wanted to avoid endless rows of grave stones.
We are now seeing two types of feedback, which are sort of counter to each other:
Some graves may be “special” and we don’t want those to disappear
We want a way to remove graves which are in the way
While it would be nice if there was no need to “disturb” a grave, I guess there is no way around it, if we want to achieve the second.
Here is my current thinking:
Graves with a blank gravestone should decay in the same way as ancient stone walls. Maybe an average decay time of 6000 years (4 days) would be good?
Graves with inscriptions (Mother, etc) do not decay.
It becomes possible (again) to remove the gravestone using a shovel.
A grave without a gravestone decays in one hour.
For comparison, this is how it works today:
Graves that haven’t gotten a gravestone yet don’t decay
Graves with a blank gravestone decay in 300 years (5 hours)
Graves with inscriptions decay in 600 years (10 hours)
Grave stones can’t be removed until the grave has disappeared.
So, will these changes be good, do you think? Any alternative suggestions?
we should be able to remove meaningless bones using a basket (offline player.etc)We can’t get the bones out of the basket, so we don’t want to throw them away, so bones are always around.
Rotting of meaningless graves is a very good update Also it is a good idea to remove a grave with a shovel too. Important graves (such as mother’s grave) do not need to decay, but may need to be moved
Therefore, i suggest the following solution
Special grave are not removed with a shovel, but if you use a chisel to erase the tombstone’s inscription, we can remove grave with shovel again
If it’s not a good idea to simply remove the tomb with a shovel, it’s also a good idea to shovel it with a mallet and remove it with a shovel, like when removing fences.

In addition it is strange that all graves are mother’s grave, so it would be better to have a script called Friend’s grave because there is no family relationship on a server without a child.
Yeah, I agree that you should be able to mark Friend on the gravestone. I’ve always hated that there are only close family relative options for grave marking. A lot of times it isn’t a close relative who buries you.
Would thos burried in mass graves recieve the same benefits as those who were properly burried?
That seems like it would cause issues for griefers who make a respawn homemarker.
Or is it more of a way to store bodies so that they are respected as the dead and so that players could burry themselves later if they find it?
Sounds good if its the second but hopefully yall could implament a way to clear griefer bones from existing mass graves if they are banished to death. (Since many players would get in the habit of just bringing bones to the mass graves)
I think it would be better that way. It would prevent griefers blocking things with graves. Though itd be up to the player to not desrespect the deceased by steping on the graves.
Would it be possible for the pathing to path around the graves unless a player taps on it?
